Learning and Teaching
The staff at Marian are highly qualified, experienced and committed to delivering personalised learning pathways that cater to a wide variety of learning styles. Our provision of online curriculum, real-time online assessment, feedback and reporting ensures that all students are provided with continuous and timely support for their learning.
Marian College has contemporary flexible classroom settings with breakout areas, 1:1 laptop programme and specialist Hospitality, Materials Technology, Science and Arts facilities. We provide access to multi-age classrooms, integrated curriculum and out-of-school learning programs. Educational support for diverse learners, and an extensive co-curricular programme enhance learning inside and outside of the classroom.
Marian NAPLAN growth data has been particularly strong during recent years. Student growth from year 7 to year 9 across almost all areas of testing continues to equal or exceed state growth averages. Our students continue an established trend at Marian to grow academically at high levels in the key areas of Numeracy and Literacy.
Year 7 and 8 students study a wide range of subjects that allow them to develop core skills and knowledge. They are also introduced to specialist studies in the arts and technologies, inspiring creativity and imagination. Students continue their core studies in Years 9 and 10 together with electives that cater to their interests, needs and pathways. While students in year 9 experience our ‘Alternative Program’, students in year 10 are able to accelerate their studies into VCE or VET courses.
Local organisations and businesses provide extensive support for Marian College through work placements, work experience, sponsorship and service provision. Marian’s partnerships in the North East facilitate educational and training pathways including VET and TAFE, VCAL, School Based Apprenticeships and VCE. Our partnership with Myrtleford P-12 College enables us to provide extensive VCE subject choice matching much larger schools.
